The ecology of Acacia albida on mantle soils in Zalingei, Jebel Marra, [western] Sudan.
Abstract
A. albida, which grows along seasonal watercourses in this region, flushes and flowers at the beginning of the dry season and is leafless during the rains. It affords shade and fodder (pods), and the soil beneath, improved by pods, leaf litter and (perhaps) cattle manure, gives increased yields of sorghum etc. Conservation of A. albida is recommended.
