The ecology of Cacao viruses. I. The role of wild hosts in the incidence of swollen shoot virus in West Africa.
Abstract
When available data were re-examined with regard to the part played by wild hosts in the infection cycle of CSSV in cacao, Cola chlamydantha could not be considered as an original host although natural infections were of local importance [37: 581 et passim]. The distribution of CSSV and its hosts suggests that the virus may have originated in the New World and not in W. Africa as has been supposed.
