The productivity of mixtures of two and three species.
Abstract
Barley, Sinapis alba and Papaver rhoeas, and then barley, S. alba and Avena fatua were grown in pure stand and in mixtures of 2 and 3 species at different proportions in 2 separate experiments. Each experiment was harvested at 3 stages of development and the total yield of the treatments compared. On no occasion did the yield of any of the mixtures exceed the highest yielding species in pure stands. From summary.
