The number of pins in a point quadrat frame.
Abstract
Theoretical considerations indicated that it was possible to increase the precision of estimation of vegetation cover by reducing the number of pins in a frame while keeping the number of frame locations fixed; this resulted from the correlation between scores from pins in the same frame. The effect was demonstrated empirically using data from Festuca ovina/F. rubra/Agrostis tenuis grassland at Moor House nature reserve.
