The ecology of slugs in potato crops, with special reference to the differential susceptibility of potato cultivars to slug damage.
Abstract
Aspects under study in a Northumberland market garden included the distribution of slugs in soil under potato plants and grassland during June to November, their distribution in ridges and furrows, and at various depths in the soil, movement from grassland into potato crops, and varietal susceptibility of the crop. The main species under study were Arion hortensis and Agriolimax reticulatus.
