Barley and its environment. 2. Strategy for computing.
Abstract
The problems of computer analysis of data collected in a long-term field study [see preceding abs.] are outlined. Methods of capture are discussed and the computer procedures for reading and checking paper tape input from a data logger are described. The calculation of hourly averages and the subsequent storage of data on to magnetic tape are outlined together with the method of safeguarding the data. The requirement for ease of access to the averages is stressed and a simple standard program which provides this accessibility and requires a minimum of programming ability is described.
