The application of hemispherical photography to cereal canopies.
Abstract
A critical assessment was made of the use of hemispherical photography in fully-developed wheat and barley canopies. It is concluded that black-and-white photographs provide useful estimates of gap frequency and percentage light transmission, as well as providing permanent records of canopy structure. The problems involved in the use of infra-red-sensitive colour film, which gives semi-quantitative information about the quality of light within the canopy, apparently outweigh the usefulness of this film.
