Allelopathic effects of Aristida adscensionis on Rhizobium.
Abstract
Extracts and leachates of the grass Aristida adscensionis inhibited the growth in culture conditions of Rhizobium extracted from Indigofera cordifolia nodules. Extracts from roots were generally more active than those from shoots or litter. Substances with Rf values 0.9 and 1.0 extracted from shoots inhibited Rhizobium more than those with Rf values 0.7 and 0.8. The results confirm previous studies of the effects of A.adscensionis on the nodulation of I.cordifolia.
