The effect of low phosphorus on nine grass cultivars for derelict land reclamation.
Abstract
Growth of 9 commercially available grass cv. was studied with 0.003, 0.06, 1.25, or 25 mu g P/ml in flowing sol. culture. At the lowest P level which may relate to the P status of reclaimed wastes where fertility has been allowed to fall, Festuca rubra and F. tenuifolia performed best, the growth of Agrostis tenuis cv. being severely limited. Intraspecific cv. differences were greatest among the Agrostis spp., cv. Boral being productive at high P. Spp. differed in P content, Agrostisspp. having the highest P values.
