Use of population models to estimate the proportion of cyst-nematode eggs killed by fumigation.
Abstract
Data concerning the application of D-D or Dazomet to 48 plots of potatoes in the UK, over 6 years were analysed, using population models, to determine the proportion of Globodera eggs killed. Models were fitted by the method of maximum likelihood and checked for overparameterization. Accurate estimates were obtained. Dazomet killed 85% of eggs, but D-D was less efficient.
