Uptake of cadmium by Gammarus fossarum (Amphipoda) from food and water.
Abstract
In studies on the survival and Cd accumulation of G. fossarum when water or its food, conditioned oak leaves, were contaminated it was observed that aquatic hyphomycetes, which occur on the leaves, accumulated Cd very rapidly and to high final concn. In Clavariopsis aquatica and Heliscus lugdunensis the final concn was achieved in 2 d (50% in < 10 h).
