Novel graphs for depicting herbivore damage on plants: the biocontrol of Sesbania punicea (Fabaceae) by an introduced weevil.
Abstract
In a study of net above-ground productivity of the economically important woody weed, S. punicea, in S. Africa, with and without the introduced monophagous weevil, Trichapion lativentre, novel plots ('relative-growth curves') were devised to illustrate productivity and phenology of each plant component. These plots can be applied to most herbivore/host-plant associations including crop/pest interactions.
