The JAEP ecology of farmland modelling initiative: spatial models for farmland ecology.
Abstract
The Joint Agriculture and Environment Programme (JAEP), initiated to investigate the effects of agricultural activity on farmland ecosystems, is outlined. Four projects studied fungi, spiders, insects and amphibians, to determine whether the same or a similar approach can be used for widely different taxa. Prospects for a general approach, and policy implications of the project findings, are briefly discussed.
