A response from the British Ecological Society to the Defra "25 year environment plan: measuring progress" consultation.
Abstract
This paper presents the response from the British Ecological Society to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) "25 year environment plan: measuring progress" consultation, addressing the following areas: (i) whether the proposed framework describes the environment in a meaningful way, (ii) potential gaps in the headline indicators and/or system indicators and how to fill those gaps, (iii) whether the overall number of headline and system indicators is appropriate and (iv) the balance and scalability between local and national levels.
