An introduction to evidence-based conservation (content tailored for research scientists).
Abstract
Scientific knowledge for conservation has rapidly accumulated worldwide, but the research-practical interface needs to be strengthened. Evidence-based conservation aims to resolve this by: (i) synthesis of evidence and critical evaluation (systematic reviews, synopses); (ii) present evidence in an easily understandable and accessible way (synopses and decision support tools); and (iii) evidence-based decision-making helps to avoid bias, increase transparency and increase efficiency.
