Defining Favourable Conservation Status Project: Definition of Favourable Conservation Status for upland mixed ashwoods.
Abstract
This document outlines Natural England's definition of favourable conservation status for upland mixed ashwoods in England, representing the minimum threshold for habitat and species thriving sustainably. It follows Natural England's guidance on defining favourable conservation status, detailing the habitat, ecosystem context, and parameters for assessing conservation status. The definition is informed by evidence on the current state, historical changes, and potential future changes of upland mixed ashwoods. Finally, it specifies the favourable values for three parameters: natural range and distribution, extent, and structure/function attributes, when the habitat achieves favourable conservation status.
