Abstract
This presentation highlights the aims, methods, and challenges of marine and coastal monitoring, focusing on achieving clean, healthy, safe, productive, and biologically diverse oceans and seas. It emphasizes the vital role of ships, boats, and other platforms in monitoring efforts carried out by at least 46 UK organizations, which also contribute to global ocean monitoring. Despite these efforts, challenges persist, particularly in integrating data and operations across boundaries. The presentation underscores the importance of enhanced interoperability and collaboration to improve the effectiveness of marine monitoring and address the complex dynamics of marine ecosystems.
