UKCEH, Land Cover Mapping, Clare Rowland.
Abstract
This presentation focuses on the UK Land Cover Map (LCM), which aims to map the current land cover across the UK and track land cover changes from 1990 to the present. The process involves acquiring and preparing data, creating training datasets, and using classification algorithms to generate land cover classifications. The presentation highlights opportunities for integrating LCM with other datasets, such as those related to crops, hedges, and pesticides, to create linked, interoperable data. It also explores how LCM's long-term, UK-wide context can benefit other monitoring activities, particularly in the ongoing update and enhancement of LCM and its training data.
