Abstract

This presentation focuses on the mapping and monitoring efforts of Ordnance Survey (OS), which has been mapping the UK since 1791. It highlights the use of aerial imagery to capture a third of Great Britain annually at high resolutions (5-25 cm), and the detailed OS MasterMap database, which includes 500 million real-world objects and is updated with 20,000 changes daily. Key initiatives include the MVP (Enhanced Land Cover) for better land and ecological mapping, Veri-Earth® for quality assured, verifiable land monitoring services for nature-based restoration and carbon offset projects, and the use of Earth Observation (EO) data for sustainable solutions.
