16-18 Summer School 2021

Our summer school for biologists, aspiring ecologists aged 16-18 and their teachers.

16-18 Summer School

The BES 16-18 Summer School is a week long residential field experience for students studying sciences at A-level, Scottish Higher and other similar qualifications. In 2021 the decision has been made to reassess the format of the Summer School to ensure that we can support 16 – 18 students at this time. A project will take place towards the end of the 2021 with further details being provided in due course. For further information and to contribute to the project please get in touch with Amy Padfield, Education and Engagement Manager.

2020 Update

The 2020 Summer School was unfortunately cancelled due to COVID-19.

2019

Here’s what happened in 2019: Our programme for the week was delivered by ecologists across a breadth of ecological disciplines and we are very grateful for all their time, effort and inspiration.

Tarnwatch

Tarnwatch was a chance for students to share their stories about their learning during each day, recorded and broadcast live each night.  We are immensely grateful to the Open University who worked with students all week to produce the nightly broadcast and all students and speakers who contributed their time to the 2019 summer school and it’s broadcast.
